Scouting Report: Jonathan Quinn:-
As
Grossman goes through his fourth new offense in
four seasons, Quinn
has spent the past two years learning Terry Shea's offense as the
Kansas City Chiefs'
No. 3 quarterback.
The 6-foot-6, 240-pounder should provide
stability despite starting just one game in the past five seasons. Quinn,
29, will play the tutor for Grossman.
"I think I can really help the other
quarterbacks learn the offense," Quinn said. "I know it, and quarterbacks
learn sometimes differently than how it's presented to them, and I can
relate maybe more on his terms and I'll be able to help any way that he
needs."
Quinn should be prepared to step in for
Grossman if necessary.
Chris Chandler
is still second on the depth chart at quarterback, but that could change
through several spring mini-camps and training camp. In fact, there is a
chance that Chandler might not even be a part of the team when they head to
Bourbonnais.
Quinn is still somewhat of an unknown quantity
because of his limited playing time in his six years. He is a pocket passer
with adequate but not exceptional arm strength. He throws a catch able ball
and has shown good mechanics and accuracy when he has time. But he struggles
to beat the blitz or when he is hurried because he is not very mobile in the
pocket.
